Terms of Use

Effective: 5 August 2026

These terms are deliberately short and in plain language. By using the Pay Split app you agree to them.

1. What Pay Split is

Pay Split is a tracker for splitting shared bills. It lets one person record a bill, share it with the table via QR code, and track who has said they've paid their share. That's all it is.

2. What Pay Split is not

Pay Split is not a bank, wallet, or payment service. It never holds, transfers, or processes money. Amounts shown in the app are informal IOUs between the people at your table. Payments happen entirely outside the app — typically as a direct bank transfer between friends — and are solely between the people involved. Pay Split has no part in, and no responsibility for, whether anyone actually pays anyone.

3. Your part

4. Your data

How the app handles data is covered by the Privacy Policy — the short version is: no accounts, no tracking, and only the data you choose to enter.

5. Availability and changes

Pay Split is provided free, as-is, and as-available. We may change, pause, or discontinue the service, and may update these terms — changes are published on this page with a new effective date. Bills rely on our server, so records may be unavailable or lost if the service is interrupted; don't treat the app as the only record of significant debts.

6. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pay Split and its maker are not liable for any losses arising from use of the app — including unpaid shares, mistyped amounts or payout details, or unavailability of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

7. Contact

The short version: it's a free scoreboard for who owes what. Money moves between friends, not through us — so settle up kindly and check the IBAN before you hit send.
